There are plenty of events and activities in Spetses this year, from the spectacular fireworks of the cultural Armata Festival, the very popular Spetses Mini Marathon where you can either spectate or join others competing in races to the world class Spetses Classic Yacht Race.
The Spetses Armata Festival is the most important festival of the year drawing thousands of locals and tourists. It celebrates the naval battle against the Ottoman Empire and honouring the Spetsiot Femail Admiral Laskarina Bouboulina. The festival commemorates the burning of a Turkish ship on September 8th, 1822, and the re-enactment is always held on the Saturday closest to September 8th.
Between major events and festivals you can relax and enjoy the tranquility of the island.
You can ramble up to the centre of the island and marvel at the phenominal views and explore old churches and remnants of dwellings from times gone past.
You can mountain bike and cycle to more secluded coves or off the beaten track places and feel like you are the only people that exist.
A horse trek might entice some of you whilst maybe more exhilerating activities such as jet skiiing, water skiing, wind surfing or stand up paddleboarding may be the preference for others.
And of course diving in the crystal clear waters of the argo-saronic gulf is a must where you can enjoy a plethera of sealife.
